The Woods - Harlan Coben

Awesome book! It's one of those with 4 little stories going on that end up all entwined at the end. Definitely stayed up late finishing it. Angel - you should take a break from the romances with this one. I'll bring it for you at Christmas.

Interesting Section: Page 222 - This big Soviet dude is reflecting on his past and he says, "You live among this ridiculous wealth and you get lost. You worry about nonsense like spirituality and inner health and satisfaction and relationships. You have no idea how lucky you are." I thought this was interesting b/c we were talking about this same thing the other day. That you have to meet people's basic needs before they can truly be open to listening to the God stuff. That is one of the mottos of one of the charitable organizations. Can't remember which one. This is certainly not the case all the time, but I thought it was funny to run into it in a book after we were just talking about it.

The Wedding - Nicholas Sparks

I loved this book! This is the third N.S. book I've read, and the story has certainly satisfied my thirst for literary romance...for a while. Even though I think his writing style is a bit simple, Nicholas Sparks did a wonderful job of weaving in just the right amount of detail to keep me interested and anticipating the heart-warming end. The lead character is so genuine, and watching his transformation was really enjoyable. I would love to have a husband like the one in this book (after the transformation, of course). Even though I felt the ending was wrapped up just a tad fast, it's definitely a book worth re-reading later.

Comfort & Joy - Kristin Hannah

November 28, 2007 - Posted by Angel: I needed a book to help get me into the Christmas spirit. This seemed like the perfect one based on the title alone. All in all, this book did it's job, and I feel full of Christmas spirit now. I'll leave the details up to Heather, if she wants them, because I don't want to say too much about the story. It's different, not what I had expected. There are a few really good twists and a bit of a guessing game. It's definitely a page turner, and you might get lost along the way, but like the main character, Joy, you find your way home and things turn out well in the end.

November 29, 2007 -Posted by HD: I agree on the time of year. Definitely a good holiday book. I must admit that I figured out something was up pretty fast and then was distracted by it the whole time. Either she was a ghost, or something was all imagination. Kind of Sixth Sense-ish. Yeah for good endings. Overall, a good story. 3 out of 5.

Yay for the Resolution!

I'm so glad we've decided to do this!

A Pre-New Year's Resolution

My best friend Angel and I decided that we wanted a place to put book and movie reviews. So this is it! Post away my friends!
